How to choose the right CCTV surveillance

The number of cameras needed depends on how many entrances/exits and blind spots the property has — plan for at least one camera per entrance and one overview camera for the driveway/garden. For a house, 4–6 cameras is usually enough, while businesses with multiple locations may need a 16-channel NVR to manage all feeds centrally.

Choose resolution based on purpose: 4K gives sharp detail for identification (e.g. license plates), while 2–5 MP is enough for general surveillance. PoE cameras are recommended for fixed installations since they simplify wiring and provide more stable operation than WiFi.
