Description: The WD43PURZ is the 4 TB model in Western Digital's Purple series – the sweet spot for professional installations in mid-sized facilities. A larger cache (256 MB compared to 64 MB on the 1/2 TB models) provides noticeably better performance when simultaneously writing from many camera channels, which is exactly the scenario you have in an 8–16-channel NVR.
AllFrame™ technology keeps video streams intact even under high load – reducing dropped frames and corrupted segments that otherwise occur when multiple HD streams write to the same disk simultaneously. IntelliSeek™ dynamically adjusts seek speed to reduce power consumption, vibration, and noise – critical when the disk operates 24/7 in an NVR that is often located in control rooms or server rooms near office spaces.
The disk is designed for NVR systems with up to 16 drive bays and up to 64 HD camera streams simultaneously – the same top specification as more expensive 6/8/10 TB models. 180 TB/year workload rating, 300,000 load/unload cycles, 1 million hours MTBF, and 3-year manufacturer's warranty from Western Digital.
4 TB is the recommended size for 8–16-camera installations where you want about a month of continuous recording in 1080p or approximately two weeks in 4K (H.265). It is perfectly suited for Movok VK-NVR2108-8P (8 channels, 1 disk = 4 TB total) or VK-NVR2216-16P (16 channels, 2 × 4 TB = 8 TB total).
