Description: The WD11PURZ is Western Digital's 1 TB drive in the Purple series – specifically designed to be installed in an NVR and record around the clock, all year round. A standard PC HDD is not built for this job: constant writing, vibrations from multiple drives in the same chassis, constantly elevated temperatures, and no quiet nights for the drive to rest. WD Purple is engineered for precisely that environment.
AllFrame™ technology is what makes the difference in practice: the technology is optimized for video streams and reduces the number of dropped frames and corrupt segments in recordings compared to a regular HDD. This means you won't discover a gap in the footage on the very night something happens.
With support for up to 64 HD camera streams simultaneously and a workload rating of 180 TB/year, the drive can handle the same facilities as more expensive alternatives. Average lifespan (MTBF) of up to 1 million hours and a 3-year manufacturer's warranty from Western Digital – one of the world's most established storage manufacturers.
1 TB is the entry-level size – suitable for villas and small installations with 1–4 cameras where you want about 1–3 months of continuous recording, depending on resolution and bitrate. For larger facilities, upgrade to 2 TB, 4 TB, or 8 TB in the same WD Purple series. SATA 6 Gb/s and 3.5" form factor fit in all standard NVRs, including Movok VK-NVR2108-8P and VK-NVR2216-16P.
