How Much Does Camera Surveillance Cost? – A Realistic Price Guide

Camera surveillance is no longer reserved for large companies with big security budgets. Prices for IP cameras and complete surveillance systems have fallen sharply in recent years, but there is still a wide range depending on what you actually need. This guide gives you a realistic picture of what a camera system costs – from single cameras to complete installations for businesses.

What affects the price of camera surveillance?

The price of a camera system is determined by several factors:

  • Number of cameras – more cameras mean higher costs for equipment, cabling and configuration
  • Camera type – a simple 2 MP bullet camera costs less than an 8 MP AI camera with a zoom lens
  • Recording solution – local NVR, cloud storage or a combination
  • Installation – professional installation versus mounting it yourself
  • Storage capacity – how many days of recorded footage need to be kept
  • AI features – perimeter protection and person and vehicle detection cost more but give fewer false alarms

IP camera prices

At Ensec we sell IP cameras from MOVOK, a brand made for professional installation. Prices for individual MOVOK products are available on request. Four ready-made camera packages are shown with prices on the website:

As a guide to what different camera types are suited for:

  • 2–4 MP fixed lens – simple indoor or outdoor surveillance, good for homes and smaller premises
  • 5–8 MP fixed lens – sharper image, suitable for entrances, car parks and shops
  • 5–8 MP zoom lens – for longer distances or specific monitoring points, common in industry and property
  • AI cameras – integrated object classification (people, vehicles, animals) directly in the camera

Installation prices

Professional camera installation from Ensec starts at 1,495 SEK. This includes a site survey, choice of camera placement, cabling, mounting and configuration of the system.

The actual installation cost depends on:

  • The number of cameras and their placement
  • Whether concealed cabling in walls and ceilings is required
  • Whether existing network infrastructure can be used
  • Type of building (house, office, industrial property)

We always offer a free security assessment on site before you decide – with no obligation to buy.

NVR and storage prices

An NVR (Network Video Recorder) stores recorded footage locally and lets you search history, view live images and export clips. The price of an NVR depends on the number of camera channels and the storage capacity.

As a guide to storage time with continuous recording on four 5 MP cameras:

  • 1–2 TB: approximately 7–14 days of storage
  • 4 TB: approximately 30 days of storage
  • 8 TB+: suitable for businesses with requirements for longer archiving

Cloud storage as a complement to a local NVR is possible but involves ongoing subscription costs.

What does a complete system cost?

Here are three typical scenarios for reference:

Home and house – basic protection

  • 2–4 cameras (entrance, driveway, yard)
  • NVR with 2 TB storage
  • Professional installation
  • Approximate total: from 8,000–20,000 SEK depending on camera choice and installation

Office premises – medium-sized business

  • 6–12 cameras (entrances, open areas, storage)
  • NVR with 4–8 TB storage
  • AI features and alarm integration
  • Approximate total: from 25,000–60,000 SEK

Property or industry

  • 12+ cameras, perimeter protection, panoramic cameras
  • High storage capacity, redundancy
  • Approximate total: individual quote required

These are guidelines, not fixed prices. Every installation is unique. Read more about camera surveillance for homes and businesses.

Hidden costs to be aware of

  • Ongoing maintenance – firmware updates, lens cleaning, battery replacement in wireless devices
  • Cloud subscription if you choose cloud storage
  • Expansion – a well-planned system should be easy to expand as your needs change
  • Replacement after theft or damage – outdoor cameras can be exposed to weather and vandalism

Is professional installation worth it?

A camera in the wrong place, with the wrong lens or without enough storage capacity gives a false sense of security – not real security. Professional installation ensures correct camera placement, stable cabling and a system that actually works when it is needed.

We always recommend a free security assessment on site as the first step.
